Wreck of the Bowling Green

Troy sings and plays “Wreck of the Bowling Green.”

This is the 100-year anniversary of the wreck of the Steamboat Bowling Green. It was April 1st, 1920 when the beautiful Green River Steamboat met her untimely demise. At the time it was thought to have been an April Fool’s joke.

Troy was asked by Rick Miller of GRVKY.com (a non-profit preserving Green River Heritage) to record “Wreck of the Bowling Green” for the project of “Little known stories of Kentucky’s Green River Valley.” The video is to preserve river heritage songs from the “Lost” Scenic Byway Corridor Management Project. The CD is called Kentucky Tales of Old, 2004. Troy is playing guitar and 6-string banjo, Randy Lanham on fiddle and mandolin, Mark Miller is the cellist and IT wizard. Michael Hicks did the editing.
